Fine jewelry is made to last for generations with a little care. Follow these simple guidelines to keep every piece looking its best.
Put jewelry on last — after lotions, perfume, and hairspray — and take it off before cleaning, gardening, swimming, or the gym. Chemicals, chlorine, and hard knocks are the most common causes of damage.
For most gold and diamond pieces, soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and pat dry. Avoid harsh cleaners on pearls, opals, emeralds, and other porous or treated stones — bring those to us instead.
Store pieces separately in a lined box or soft pouch so harder stones do not scratch softer metals. Keep chains fastened to prevent tangling, and store silver with an anti-tarnish strip.
Have prongs, clasps, and settings checked once or twice a year — a loose prong is far cheaper to fix than a lost stone. We offer complimentary inspections and professional cleaning for pieces purchased with us.
